WHAT: The Public Hearing for the proposed Zoning Amendment (Fencing Requirements) Bylaw 1211, 2023 is waived. To reduce injury and mortality to deer and other wildlife the amendment proposes to introduce fencing requirements that prohibit fence pickets and finials on all fences and restricts double horizontal top rails spaced less than 45 cm apart.

It’s Budget Time – Now’s the Chance to Get Involved!

Council wants your input on the 2024 budget. It is important that everyone gets involved so Council knows the views of individual members of the community on the proposed budget. Budget details can be found at Let’s Talk-Lake Country. Review the information and leave your questions/comments on the official webpage. Staff will ensure that all feedback received from the community on the 2024 draft budget is relayed to Council prior to adoption of the five-year financial plan.

MP Tracy Gray gave an annual update on projects and initiatives being worked on at the Federal level.  

Regional District Central Okanagan Grant Application:

Council supported the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) application to the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF) for Emergency Support Services (ESS) Training and Equipment.  

Road Closure Bylaw:

Public Hearing:

The public hearing was held to hear from members of the public on rezoning applications located at 3130 Berry Road and a second application located at 11506 Turtle Bay Court. Several members of the community spoke to Council regarding their concerns and/or support of the projects. OCP Bylaw 1131, 202, Zoning Amendment Bylaw 1132 and Zoning Amendment Bylaw 1199 were adopted by Council at the Special Council Meeting that followed.

Water rate increase required to enhance and replace current water system

The water system plays a crucial role in providing water for various purposes such as drinking, washing, flushing, fire protection, and irrigation. Due to aging infrastructure and undersized piping for adequate fire suppression, there are several key improvements that are needed to meet the community’s long term water needs:
